Tuna and GT Popping Rod

(1/2) > >>

Bwanna Surya:
Hi All,

I hope all of you are enjoying this holiday season and all the best in 09.

I am wondering if someone can tell me the fundamental differences between Tuna Popping Rods and GT Popping rods....from what I can understand from reading some articles Tuna Popping rods have the tip section softer than the GT Popping rod...However specialise Stickbaits or Pencils GT rods also have soft tips too to work the lure properly....The Length, most Tuna rods have longer length than the GT rods.

The strength....can most Tuna rods survive the abuse of big GTs or vise versa....

Cheers
Bwanna

Most dedicated tuna popping rods are longer than GT rods , some GT rods can be used for tuna popping but one must be an accomplished caster to reach the required distance using light lures , at times lures as light as 40 gr. are required to entice strike from tunas , it's a case of matching the size of the baitfish they are eating at that particular time .

My dedicated tuna rods are 9'2" and 8'7" in lengths .

Brandon Khoo:
