bouz split rings
January 09, 2009, 04:19:58 PM
i know these have been out for a little while now, but has anyone tried these funny looking oval shaped rings before?? are they that easy to get onto lures and hooks without the use of split ring pliers??  ??? ??? ??? wondering wether they would be easier to get single jigging hooks onto than decoys/owner/varivas split rings.

there is a bit of a knack to getting Bouz rings on but once you figure it out, it is pretty easy. I have used these quite a lot on smaller lures (eg barra lures). They are however, an absolute mongrel to get off!

If it swims; I want to catch it!

Like Brandon says - easy to get on but split ring pliers are needed for getting them off again. They work great for the connection between swivel and popper or for hooks but they don't sit well with some really heavy guage hooks like Jobus and definitely not for baker rigs. Mostly I've been using them for the swivel/popper join as it's quicker to change lures, we're also selling a lot to the barra guys who like the extra length as well as the strength for size aspect of the smaller models.

Cheers
