Hi steve, I am new in this forum and has been browsing around for sometime.
I just have a look at that japanese rod case and I am quite interested in having one of those.
Do you have the website or a reference for that ? Is there any agent in Spore or KL selling it?
How many rods can it store ?

Many thanks in advance.

Check Anglers Hut in Singapore. I've seen Richard bring in some but not sure if he still has some in stock.

If I remember correctly, I think it holds around 6 to 8 rods including a special corner for butt joints

I can't see the picture but you're obviously referring to a Carmate. I got one of those too!

Carmate model came from SMITH in Japan with my other products.
I do not retail though you could contact one of my retailers for a price.

For youself to import problem is it's expensive to fright from Japan or anywhere due to it's lenght have to use Fedex or UPS and by itself will cost you probably $150 plus AU to get it here.

USA store has listed at US$189.95 plus your freight.

If you're looking to carry 5+ rods, your choices are the Carmate, the big Bazuka or the Plano Airliner. I am sure there are other options in the market though that I haven't seen. The Carmate is an excellent rod carrier. It's a little fussy getting the rods in but it is solid and very well made. It can also carry quite a number of rods but you need to do a fair bit of manoeuvring around to get them in. Personally, once you're getting to 7+ rods, I'd suggest the big Plano Airliner. This one is so easy to get the rods into and believe me, with that number of rods, you will really appreciate the wheels on the case.

For me, I use the Plano 35102 if I only need to carry 2-3 rods. I use the Carmate if it is 3-5 and I use the Airliner for anything more.
If it swims; I want to catch it!
