that's how it goes sometimes. If you book enough trips, it will happen sooner or later.
We made this call this morning before we caught the flight to Hamilton Island so still in Sydney

I am sorry to hear this , especially for a couple of guys who have come so far to join this trip .

In S.E.Asia we generally observe " no fishing " till after the first full moon of the Lunar New Year because usually the weather is bad for fishing .
