PE1-1.5 ultralight popping outfit
February 13, 2009, 02:05:03 AM
That other topic on light outfits got me thinking about this..

I already have a KGS68M which is good for PE2.5 or so. Would like something to match with a Stella 3000 and PE1-1.5.

Would like something like the KGS and I know they do a 59L or something.

Anyone know any other similar rods, maybe Ripplefisher or something?

Cheers guys.

 ;D ;D ;D ;D

David this search is gonna be the end of you mate!!! HAHAHAHA!!!

I think Jon's suggestion is a good one, Loomis makes some amazing sticks... but then again, I know you like the feel of the Japanese built rods... they are addictive for sure.....

What about going completely against "tradition here, and setting yourself up with a pimped out Abu Revo Inshore, or Shimano Curado ( the Salty ones with the 7.1:1 Retreives ) or whatever pimped out low profile bait caster you can find, pimp the drags and handles, then I'm sure Evrgreen or someone can set you up with a 7ft lazer beam of a rod you can swing poppers and plastics with all day....

Only draw back wiould be fishing ultra lights like unweighted plastics or into heavy winds when the spinner certainly takes the cake....
I've been toying with a low profile over head set up for inshore for a while... 7 to 8 ft with PE 2 or 3 on a Low Profile like the Revo or something.... Probably not for a while yet, as next set up upgrade will more likely be a light soft plastic set up, 7 to 8ft with a 2500/3000 size spinner..... probably just similar to what you're looking for now, so let me know what you find!!!!  ;D 8)

Now that you mentioned it Andre , one of my baitcasting rods happen to be Evergreen Temujin TXFC-68MH stallion which I pair it most of the time with Conquest 201DC filled with PE 2.5 line , nice combo for topwater action .

Megabass have some great offerings in these weight classes. It's almost like trying to find a reason to spend a lot of money!

Brandon you know better than anyone that the justification to spend money is an easy one to make!

Andre this is literally all your fault mate!

I really like the megabass sticks but have heard that they tend to be high carbon content for sensitivity.. Is that correct? Also that because they are required to be so sensitive they are a bit brittle?

I want to get a Megabass Orochi Mephisto for throwing swimbaits for pike over here. Paired with a Calcutta Conquest DC that is a sick outfit!

Jon I do like Loomis rods but they just look a bit drab compared to the japanese stuff.

The queue of must haves this year is lengthening now..

Jigging Master 150g Power Spell or Evergreen Poseidon High Pitch Jerker PE3
Ocea Jigger NR 1500P
Twinpower 12000SW
Some megabass PE1 spinstick
Stella 2500
etc etc etc

What economic crisis?!

Megabass sticks are beautiful but like any rod, if you mistreat them, they'll go on you. if you're looking for a Mephisto though, good luck. I got the last one made. They're no longer making this model.

Brandon - Why do I get the feeling that this is not just an isolated case!!! ;D ;D ;D

David - I think we can probably blame eachother on this one mate... since chatting to you about it I too have been on the search..... blame me all you like mate, but you're a tackle tart just like me!!  8)

David, in responding to your original question, Carpenter make some beautiful light sticks but I am not even sure as to how you would get one. BC64ULR and BC74ULR are suitable for the weight you're looking to fish. In Ripple, you could look at an Aquila like the 69M. At least I know I could get an Aquila!

Thanks

Thanks Brandon, seems like a tough one to find... all my google searches come up empty handed....

I did Google that Amazon Flip TMJC-70HX you mentioned and got a link to Plat..... awesome looking rod..... I still can't believe they build some of these rods for Bass.... I mean Largemouth bass..... I know Bass canget upwards of 20 pounds, but in all seriousness, does one really need a rod with this kind of power for bass.....????
Some of the new Swimbait rods they are coming out with now ae insane... I guess when you are throwing foot long rubber swimbaits, its more for the lure than the bass.... but still....

Then again, as has been made mention of before, since when does "need" have anything to do with it? ;) ;D
