Visit to Fishhead - this weekend

I dropped into Fishhead yesterday for a visit on my monthly visit to Brisbane.

Duncan and Janelle have really built Fishhead into the premium fishing tackle store in the country. There are of course bigger stores (check out any BCF!) but if you're a serious popping or jigging angler, Fishhead really has become a one stop shop.

You'll find a great range of popping and jigging equipment ranging from super-premium to reasonable but you can rest assured you will always get good advice from Duncan, Janelle, Gordon (Shrek) and Aaron (Donkey).

Fishhead stocks some very specialised lures such as Seven Seas jigs, Patriot jigs, FCL poppers and jigs, Hammerhead poppers and of course, is the only retailer Chris Young  has for his Fullscale poppers. They also have a very impressive range of popping and jigging rods and I'll make special mention of one jigging rod in particular. If any of you out there think you can handle it, Fishhead have a really serious Zenaq Monster Buster made for an overhead. Feel free to inquire direct with Duncan on this rod!

I agree....even managed to find it the second time round going off memory and some guidance from GPS Greg (and thanks to Pete for getting us to Greg)...I have some new squid pens and poppers to test out.

Yeah I gotta agree...Its a fantastic shop for the serious angler.

Great to go in a shop and see top shelf gear rather than the run of the mill stuff we all see in BCF etc.

I'm so glad in some ways that there is a big old piece of water called the Indian Ocean between me and that store..... I'd be even more broke...
The internet is bad enough when shopping for lures... but if they are there right in front of you to hold and touch... I am pretty horrendous at resisting.....

Bun I admire your strength at only buying some poppers/jigs/hooks/line etc etc etc....

that may be the case but you've got to understand, he almost lives there!    If he didn't pace himself, he might be better off trying to buy the business

 Yeah!! twice last week, one excuse [of a few, wife rolls eyes] to go there is to  meet and have a cup of Coffee with Brandon [and friends] when he is up from Sydney, 1 1/2 hours driving each way listening to good rock and blues isn't bad either, then get home with more new toys to play with, Yeah!

PS: It always seems like you aren't spending as much when you add to the collection in small doses

Andre, I dropped off the DVDs at FishHead who are all 'Fly' boys, they'll get a kick out of them as well.

Thanks guys for the kind words, and thanks for the DVD's too! Been a bit busy on the books for the last few days so I hadn't had time to reply. Managed to get out on the bay today to see what the longtails thought of the Daiwa 'Over There' stickbaits - turns out they like them very much! Gordo took a group out jigging with Bill on Sunday, bit rough but they got Ambos up to 14kg as well as the obligatory screaming unstoppable. Gordon backed it up with a nice 60kg black off the Gold Coast on monday.
We haven't forgotten a japan report either, I'll try to get it happening tomorrow.

When I mentiond the DVDs to Gordon he gave you a sideways look and mummbled "what DVD's"
I can relate to the weather on Sunday, it stopped our jigging trip to the Hards but scored a 40kg Black at the Mooloolaba 8 mile, always something good out on the water
