Hi Lex
You could definitely make a flemish eye or use plastic tubing in the same way that most trolling rigs are set up, but GT leaders don't seem to suffer the same kind of wear other gamefishing leaders do.
GT fishing tends to be more of the high intensity/short duration type of fight and the act of casting and retrieving the lures doesn't put as much pressure on the link as trolling. So you don't tend to get the prolonged abrasion that you would get with trolling a lure for a few days followed by a long drawn out fight on a big fish.
From my personal point of view, I put wind ons on conventional game gear with the intention of them staying there for some time and hopefully catching a bunch of fish. With Twisted leaders, I make plenty of them and replace them regularly.
That said, this part of the leader is potentially a weak link in long fight and you are going to a place with potentially monsterous GT's, so you might as well make them as strong as possible!
Cheers
