I know the oysters at the tip of the north-west cape are a serious proposition for land based anglers, but for those wanting to head out to the muirons for a bit of GT action what options are available? Are there any sportfishing charters that can put you onto the GT's around Exmouth?

I'm not aware of any that are available unless you sole charter them and that can be way too much $$$ - not saying they are, but i doubt that many would have such specialised info either.

One person of interest to speak to would be Matt Gates of Bluewater Exmouth. He may be able to take you out or put you onto one of the other locals in the know - i was going to go out last time for two days but the swell was mammoth making reef popping and the Murions way too dangerous.

Alternatively, there is Bluewater boat hire that has a fairly large and powerful boat for hire at competitive rates. As long as you have a good skipper and are sensible you may be able to pop the Ningaloo reef edge or Murions yourself.

Another island of particular interest is known as Peak Island. Hal Harvey has fished it - may also be worth asking him as he has also fished the Exmouth region quite extensively.

10km North-East of the Cape - Launch from Bundegi if the ramp is in suitable condition.

There's also a place at the Murions (or Peak?) that "isn't called 100lb point for nothing", so i'm told...

I've heard that the south side of North Muiron is one of the hotspots out there.
