Carpenter DJ83ML

Hi Guys,

i just got myself a Carpenter DJ83ML.
its for my 1st GT Popping at Maldives this end year.
need so advices from you guys as you all have more experiences.

wish to know which reel balances well with DJ83ML.
i have a saltiga z4500, but afraid not enough line and its also not high gear.

as for pencil popper and stickbait, normally use how many grams.

The reel you mentioned is well suited to DJ83ML , so does Shimano Stella 8000/10000 latest model , as for not high gear , just reel and sweep faster . 

For pencil popper I wud not use anything above 100 gr. but for stickbait , 125 gr. stickbait should be fine but this rod is not suited for chugger except a real small one around 60 gr. , the tip is just too soft for larger chugger .

i couldn't find a SW10000XG so buy the 10000PG.
like u mentioned, just reel in & sweep faster.

Sorry for burrying up this old topic, but I'm also interested in the DJ83ML for my Maldives Trip (wading and boating with poppers and pencil baits for GT and Bluefin) - and I'm thinking of purchasing this rod.

But I'm not sure, what Reel matches perfect to this rod... I've often heard, that the Dogfight is a good choice - but I'm afraid, that reel is too big and heavy for this rod?

i couldn't find a SW10000XG so buy the 10000PG.
like u mentioned, just reel in & sweep faster.

there is another option is buy a sw 20000 handle which it will be longer than the sw10000 handle which it can give you extra speed just a thought  .
