What poppers?
June 09, 2009, 06:21:09 PM
Im heading out in July on a three day trip with Nomad and I was just curious how many poppers everyone takes on there trips and what sort of variety of poppers? I know its going to differ from spot to spot but just a ruff idea.

Jay.
I usually take too many lures (ok allways ;D)
20 lures will be heaps mate, try to take a few lge bloopers around 150g, also some mid size about 120-130g.
Last trip we found the GT were hitting longer lures like Long Kongs and Ebipops so take a couple of these.
Mix up the rest with some stickbaits and a long pencil or two.

Great choice of rod too mate, I've got the big gun coming soon ;)

I would be inclined to up the line size on the expedition too.

Crusty - what rod did you happen to get mate? I guess you can take it to NC.

Jay i also have to agree with Crusty on the 80lb being a little on the light side, minium PE8 mate.

Luke nice collection of lures you take on trip mate.

Generally i try to keep my stickbaits to Orion bigfoots, crazy dog & realbaits, (will add the new Bobara to this & drop one of the above).

For poppers, i try to mix it up a little, craftbaits, hammerheads, SS lures, ebipop orion cono cono & have been playing with the Patriot design master bombs, full scale kongs.
will only take 2 possibly 3 different brands but wll take atleast 5-7 of each. (hope that makes sense)

All in all i make sure i have agood selection of sizes amongst my lures.

Brock.. Have got a Seven Seas Powerfull on the way ,its the big gun  ;D..cast weight up to 250g so will suit some of my new shapes coming through. Should be able to give it a good run at NC if I get it in time.

Luke, as Brock said..great selection of lures mate.

Jay, as Brock and Luke have pointed out it's good to have a selection of sizes but also good to have at least two of everything cos when you get smashed and lose the only lure that works (on the day) at least you've still got ONE more chance :D

Chris, I reckon two of every colour of every lure!! ;D.
They are not like bait, they don't go off...

Ken.

PS When will the Long Kongs be ready for production?

Ken...I will be finishing the first dozen Long Kongs in a week, unfortunatly they are all sold. My "production" runs are on a very small scale at the moment as I still have a day gig. It pays to get in early if you want to order any lures as most are gone before they are finished (some before they're started)  ::)
