Topwater Caranx Ignobilis: Giant Trevally (GT) > Tackle & Techniques
Guide to buying a GT rod - updated as at February 2017
Andy Rowe:
Second the TBL80/40, casts long will handle that lure, and PE10 (diligently) and land big GT's.
My current favorite rod, just my biased opinion.
Mark Harris:
Having seen the Carpenter TBL 80/40 in action and flung one or two with it, I ordered one right away. So, third that.
I have been using Carpenter DJ83MH and MH80H for 200 gram stickbaits and they both do the job, if not as elegantly as TBL 80/40.
Tommy Du:
Good info now to sell some of my jig gear and start reel fishing
Brandon Khoo:
the only caveat I would place taking Faraz's question into account is he wrote "stickbaits over 200g"
that's pretty broad. I really would not go over a 200g stickbait with the 80/40.
Andy Rowe:
Good point Brandon, to be honest I've found anything between 120 and 165gm (un-rigged) within it's comfort zone.
