I've used them a little over the years, Nathan. The Bill's Bug master is George Pang!
George's view is that the old model of the Bug was a great lure but the new model which has the through-wire doesn't have the weighting quite right.
If it swims; I want to catch it!

If you are looking for a great fish raiser/catcher under $25, look no further!

The 'new' version has through wire whereas the old models had pig tail screw-in type eylets that were held in by the foam only. I haven't swum a new one though Bill Clarke was always keen to keep his lures balanced well.

The shape casts well. They make an awesome bloop for their size and have accounted for some of the biggest G's taken on poppers.

I watched a mate get dragged around by a no-bullsh*t 80kg GEE up at Break Sea spit on one, only to have the big mumma wear through a twisted 100lb fluorocarbon leader....I have great respect for these lures.

they may not have the heavy wire that we normally look for though they were some of the largest poppers made 8 years ago......
I'll try and dig out a photo of my 200mm Bug. It's enormous.......

yeah brandon your right, the weighting seems to be quite off as it sits just below the surface when its paused.

I've always fished the 150's and they held up a pair of the heaviest 5/0's you could fit.

I'll need to have a muck around with the 'new' models and compare....most times I'd be blooping fairly quickly....too quick for it to sink I'd say though time will tell.

The 'old' ones were very bouyant......we shall see, Clarice...we shall see.

Aaron.

Hey Brock,

I am a fan of the 150 Bills Bugs. You betcha!
For their size, they make a heap of noise that the GT's love.

Dunno when I'm going to get a crack at the offshore fish yet.
All my fishing has been bay based lately for snapper & bream etc.
Every time it has looked OK this year, there has been a serious case of non-movable things to do.......sh*t happens.

Hmmmm.....I might take an old Bug into work to weigh it & see if there is a major difference.

Aaron.
