Whitsundays Land based Report.

Hi all,
I just got back from a Whitsunday holiday and the goal was a BIG GT land based....
Well I saw 5 awesome fish in total and each would have given the 30kg mark a nudge.
I saw each fish separately and on different days....Each time the would give the poppers a chase then just fade away with out striking....
I was very frustrating to watch....and they reminded me of big yellowtail kings with the curious nature but as they get bigger they get smarter!!....
Anyway I did manage some great queenies,big cod on poppers,Reds,Sweetlip,small mackeral,Trout and cuda on plastics....all land based.
The images of those huge GT's just haunt you in the mind....

Thanks for the Whitsunday report. Nice to read.

Well done on the Land-based sessions! Was it all around the islands?

We sometimes fish the Coral Beach rock points for GT, around the corner of Shute Harbour. Big GT often follow our lures right to our feet!

I saw your recent photo of a GT which looked land based in QFM.....I was very jelous.

Hi Luke ....I didnt know whether you wished to have Non GT photos in these forums....
Anyway here are some of the pics from the trip.
All fish were caught on plastics and the queenie off the rocks was on a Halco Roosta pop.

All fish were caught land based....
The big Cod got me going for a split second when it smashed my popper...a quick burst of speed then nothing......WHAT NO GT here.....
