New Daiwa spinning reels
June 15, 2009, 06:48:19 AM
Hi all, came across these on the Melton site. The weight of the 6500 looks good, and the price is right too.

Great price, however half the drag, half the bearings of the dogfight.
Still would be a great reel (6500) for anyone starting out in the popping field.

Nice looking reel but I think you would be upgrading after your first trip. Have you had a look at the 6500 Catalina not as cheap but still a fair bit cheaper then a saltiga a think there around $850.00

Stay tuned for the Shimano Twin Power SW to be available on the Australian market later in the year. Will make a good alternative to the Catalina.

The Saltists are new for 2010, I think.

Hi Luke, re: Twinpower SWs, will the 12000HG (or equivalent) be offered in Australia? If so, any idea of pricing?

Cheers
Ian

Hi Ian,

Can't comment on pricing but yes there will be a 12000 equivalent.

Imported a Twinpower SW 12000 for my trip to the Seychelles last week - no GT's but plenty of Coral Trout, Jobfish, couple of YFT's and I had four Dogtooth between 32 and 49 kilos - the reel didn't even skip a beat ... biggest doggie I just turned the screw down until I couldn't take anymore!

Alex

Any chances of prices and the shop where you obtained the reel from?

Cheers
