JB Line One Hollow: 100lb or 130lb?
December 16, 2010, 10:14:59 AM
http://www.360tuna.com/forum/f3/80-jb-hollow-stronger-than-100-jb-hollow-15232/). I can see that the majority of users in this forum use 130lb. Are there any obvious reasons for me not to opt for JB 100lb?

I would appreciate comments and suggestions!

Best wishes,
Dan

Hi Dan

My first reaction is that your would not be able to get enough of either JB Hollow 100 or 130 onto a SW10000 spool? Or are you using a larger after-market spool on the 10000?

Anyone tried this and have the metreage?

The Ocean No limits 16000 spool holds 275 m JB 100 (  this is what I got when spooling it full).. so around 250m for less chance of wind knots.

General rule ( my formula is that you can get approx 80-82% JB 100 compared to the amount of JB 60 on a spool )
Stella SW 10000 spool holds 250 m JB 60 ( if spooled correct ).. so that makes  around 200 meters JB 100

200 metres of JB 100lbs hollow onto a SW10000 sounds like quite a bit too much to me.

If that is really possible then it's enough for GT fishing and I was wrong :).

I appreciate all your comments! Thanks!

Hi Patrick
I have considered buying a SOM 16000, but I assumed that the extra capacity as compared to standard spool would be less than 50 m. But a difference of apx 275 m (SOM) as compared to 200 m (standard) makes a difference. I will probably pick up a SOM when I pass by Bangkok next time - shipping, VAT, other taxes etc. makes it quite costly to order one from Denmark.

What are you fishing for Dan...BFT?

Dan, I think you will find a lot of fans of the SOM No Limits 16000 spool. Fantastic add on for a Stella or Twinpower 10000.

Dan as I said in my post I got ( or my friend who works at a tackle shop ) 275meters ( 300 yards ) spooling up with heavy palming the JB 100 spool with a  glove, on the No limits 16000 spool.. but I'm ripping of aprox 25 meters for less chance of wind knots

I'd say the 10000 spool would fit 180m JB100 for casting ( 200 if used only for jigging )

Patrick, thanks for the clarification!

I will go for the JB 100lb and probably later upgrade with a SOM 16000 in order to obtain the extra capacity. The 10000 is used for popping only.

Ha en bra jul och helg!

Best wishes,
Dan
