Mark, I think you will find that the LR88 is the updated version of the LR86. With some heavier terminals on the baby runbohs to weigh them up a bit, you should be able to work the lure without much trouble. Only thing is that it might become a sinking runboh instead of a floating one. There is also a Ripple rod for shore casting, maybe some other members can shed more light on that rod for you. If you do search the forum, I'm pretty sure this topic has come up before.

Cheers

Hi Mark

I cant answer all you questions, but I do have the the DJ83ML and it's really not suited to casting Baby Runbahs... they're just that little bit too light.

Cheers Rob

I know I've recommended this rod alot recently, but seems alot of guys are looking for lighter popping rods to throw 40 to 120 gram size lures so I'll put it out there again.

Ocean Revolution Black Devil 100.... 8'8" in length, so great distance capacbitlies.. perfect for PE4 to 6... designed for your smaller lures, specifically like the Runbohs etc... and it casts them miles!

mark both of my rods are tuna casting rods firstly because of cast weights and then the land based game i use them for .  most of the gt sticks wont cast the weights you after  the ocean devil that was mentioned is a tuna casting rod would be a good choice dont have it persoanly but was tempted i have a zenaq tuna 86 this is pe4-6  and cast 50 140 g i use it for 50-85 lures mainly, 50g is a bit hard going but 85 is great  this rod might not be tough for you im only chasing max 25kg know theres the odd 30kg gt or tuna around havent hooked one though and doubt i will  and thats a huge long shot.  I was tempted to get the carpenter tuna rod which is pe6 however from looking at the vidoe of it in use on plat thinks its overkill for me the vid if you clcik on the spec shows them landing a 400 kg sailfish on it  massive the cast weights look great and at 9 2 cast distance would be great   my next dream purchase  i do have the ripple fisher tuan great for the 50-60 gram not happy with 85 g though but much thicker butt on the blank . cheers

p.s have received emails from anglers proshop as i get there news letter most probly know they are shut down reopening in dec some staff left and now bought by a japanse company   wonder if they will still stock the ocean revolution as they designed them with smith

ps also maybe one the carpenter tbl series the 80/30 lure weight wise

just been on plat looking at carpenter rods  the 9 2 tuna is still there but they have a new tuna stick rated less than the 9 2  its 8 6 pe 4-6 with zenaq releasing  theres nearly 2 years ago and ripple fisher having a light tuna rod both 8 6 and pe 4-6 seems that they have done the same and produced a  lighter tuna stick would have love to seen that 4 months ago

Just curious had a look at nomads online shop  noticed the carpenter long reef in online store is now rated PE10 and stickbaits up to 200 grams whereas on main sight its 80-100 lbs carpenter still has it on there site as PE6-8
has the long reef been upgraded any info would be appreciated
cheers

I'm fairly sure there has been no recent update on the LR88. I have noted Nomad occasionally put their own revised specs on rods, they do have loads of experience, in this case it is different to the manufacturers specs which are PE 6-8 and lure 170gm.
