Re: Line Capacity For Poppering

Morning guys,

I guess I always like to think I'm giving myself the best chance of dealing with the monster when it comes along...so I have been running heavy braid and a big drag.  So far I haven't been bust off by a GT on this heavy gear.

Problem is that you just seem to find the next weakest link in the chain....for me this has been the rod...I've bust two very heavy rods now! I guess I'm learning the expensive way that its not just brute force, rather a thoughtful application of big pressure at the right time for the conditions at hand.

Tight lines (not too tight though  ;D )

Dave

PS - Anyone got a handle section for a WV80XH ?

Check with Ocean Active boys , they are known to have broken a couple WV80XH . What happened to your handle ?

Hi Jon,

Tip section tore out through the handle when setting the hooks on a fish 50m away.

I'm pretty careful that tip sections are very well inside the butts and I do use wax on tip section joint....

Thanks for the tip - I'll drop Nick a line.

Cheers   Dave
