Would appreciate any advice on which loop knot to use when attaching 200-300lb onto the popper?
Cheers Sam

I crimp the bite leader at both ends and use splitring to attach to the eyelet of the lure , so far no problem .

Hmm I think I would steer clear of the perfection loop, In my experience knots and heavy mono do not mix. Take Jon's advice and go with the crimp, fast, easy and most of all trust worthy.

Sam, is there any reason why you want a loop knot?

Sam Cheadle:
Thanks for the advice. I am such a novice at this GT world i have discovered. So far after spending many hours reading magazines and online forums i have a lot of theory in my mind about tackle, rigs, hooks, poppers etc, but no actual experience.

I have decided to try and keep things simple - Yeah right

I realise this forum is fairy specialised so don't judge me, i am putting it out there that i am a beginner.

My rig is gonna run as follows:

100lb braid tied with a FG knot (copied of that Japanese guy on youtube) to either 200lb mono or 300lb mono. Any suggestions on how long the leader should be?
We are going to Kavadu Fiji and i have no idea what those waters are like. I thought it would be nice to have the knot outside the guides.

Also im assuming if you do get busted off on reef - providing you still have a fair length of leader you would tie another popper on. If i have to tie another one of those FG knots on the boat, it will probably take about half an hour. I have found doing the knot as a 2 person operation is heaps easier and better finish.

Then i was thinking loop knot to popper such as the link on the second reply to this post. The reason for the loop knot, i read somewhere you need to leave a bit of play in the line. As i mentioned before - all theory at the moment.

Would be grateful for any advice - please no crazy knots - I am not buying a bobbin or anything like that!

Cheers Sam
