Hi everybody Odyssey and crew pulled up at the Diamond Islets a couple of days ago and I have a few fishing reports that have come through from Damon - it's mainly jigging at this location but there can be some fun lure casting in the lagoons. I'll keep posting the reports as I receive them. Mel and I head out for a couple of days from 11/12 so we'll be able to send through some first hand stories after that!
29/11 - Floatplanes arrived today. All good, nice weather, good guys, and caught a few fish as well. The mythical seamount does not exist, but had some fun anyway.
30/11 - Rod took the contender today and started with a 45kg dogtooth and then hooked 2 black marlin between 300-400lbs, both jumped off. Both of the 25ft centre consoles spent the day jigging for dogtooth and the sharks were a problem, but lots of 20-30kg doggies were landed, as well as some nice coral trout to 8kg. The jigging in general was very good, but the sharks took their toll. Going to move to the SW corner of the reef tomorrow as this should be better with the prevailing current. Always takes a few days to find the fish here with the varying current movement. The guys finished the day walking the sand cay and casting small lures for bluefin, red bass, and small GTs, there were plenty on the chew.
