Whitsunday surface session
Cy and Kerrin Taylor:
Hi,
Here's a few images from a GT session we had around the Whitsunday islands recently.
We fished with Travis Davies from QFM who was on holiday in the Whitsundays. He had his Skeeter saltwater series boat which he towed up from Brisbane to fish out of while in the area. It was great to fish with him and get some nice fish together.
The fishing was fairly tough but we still managed some good-sized fish from around the islands. The biggest GT landed was probabaly just under 30kg and the other fish ranged from 10kg to 25kg.
We tried poppers such as the FCL Ebipop, Halco Haymaker etc. but most of the fish were caught on the Nomad Ulua stickbaits with a slow retrieve and pauses. One of the bigger fish exposed most of it's body as it came out of the water to strike the Ulua - great to watch!
We also lost around 4 other GT (strikes/ hooks falling out) and had 2 double-hook ups which was very exciting!
Thanks,
Cy & Kerrin Taylor
