carmate rod tube
Jon Li:
Agree with Brandon but managed to fit only 6 rods + handles so far , I usually put towel / T shirt to fill the spaces so the rods are secured inside the tube .

Darren Cook:
Thanks Brandon and John, I'll be happy with 4 popping rods, 2 jig rods and some towell padding.

I know Duncan managed to fit 7 rods in his when we left Bugatti. I usually get at least 6 without any trouble.
Dave Foyle:
Just packed my carmate for St Brandons next week. It swallowed 3 heavy popper rods up to 8ft long, 2 jigging rods, 2 light popper rods and 2 fly rods inc. all butt sections - with a tube length of 6ft1ins. Best way I've found of packing rods is to put 2 rods on the floor (on a sheet of bubblewrap) as close together as you can with the rings facing each other. Then repeat this for the remaining rods - placing them on top of the bottom two. Leaves you with a very neat stack which you pull the bubblewrap over and secure with rod bands. Slide this in the case and slip the butt sections around the outside :)
Chris Young:
The best person I've seen pack one of these tubes is Malcolm Crane, he's like Houdini, rods just disappear in there at his will :o
