GT knot tool?
February 10, 2010, 03:10:34 PM
Hi all,
first post for me so please be patient .
Ive been contemplating creating a tool for tieing the FG, GT knot , Ive created a prototype which works fantasticaly and was wondering if any other such tools are on the market?

Hi John
Not too sure about the GT Knot, but the FG is easy enough just by hand... takes a bit of practice, but once you get it, it's reasonably easy.
Cheers Rob

Thanks Rob,
I can tie them both easily , but trying to make it a simple task for beginers, the tool Ive prototyped makes a very tight neat version in no time at all.
Thanks again.
Regards John

Randy Chin (ex APS) saw just such a tool at the Osaka Fishing Show. Not sure what it looks like yet but I'm sure he'll get round to posting a pic soon!

Jesus, are you tying a FG knot or stringng a violin?!
I can tie a FG knot in the time it takes just to get this thing set up to tie the knot.
The FG knot is not difficult to learn. It's like any other knot to tie properly - practice, practice, practice. Once you learn how to tie it properly, it wil be much faster than using a tool like this.
