Some advice
May 31, 2010, 10:21:05 AM
Hello everybody.
I have been invited on a trip taking Askari, which is a 55ft Assegai game boat to Cairns from the Gold Coast Marina first thing Wednesday morning.
The priority of the trip is obviously getting the boat to Cairns but hopefully we will be doing some trolling, jigging and popping.
As it is a big boat we should have access to most areas, if there was one particular reef/system for jigging or one spot for popping you could stop at between Cairns and the Gold coast where would it be?

lee,

Mate if you can drive past the shoalwater bay area without stopping for a pop then you would have to have blinkers on. This is one of the most beautiful places you will visit on the Queensland coast. There is an absolute mile of places to chase Gt's in the area. When you get there , believe me the spots stick out like dogs balls. There are some truly awsome fish to be caught (and released).

Shoalwater right through to the clara's. Check out some of Nomads stuff , as they charter to Shoalwater. Really impressive place.........

Just be aware of whether or not there is an army closure on when you come up this way as sometimes you aren't allowed anywhere near it.

Oh yea Northern end of fraser island, if you do your homework is home to some of the biggest GT's on earth.

Sounds tough travelling all that way on such a "little" boat, some people have all the luck. They are one nice rig, lot of fuel though, ;D
