GT fishing in the cooler months

<< < (2/2)

Daniel Fisher:
Not really relevant to the big reef dwelling northern fish everyone on here targets, but in northern NSW we often get a lot less rain through the middle of the year. This allows the rivers to clean up and by the end of Winter the GTs move right up stream. It can be quite incredible to be fishing water that is holding school jew, gts, jacks and you even get the odd adventurous post spawn bass as by catch.

Tom Grubb:
up the road from you guys in townsville we havnt noticed too much of a difference over the past few years, we still find and catch fish every trip, around the islands it becomes harder to find fish and get a bite. reef wise not much difference, id nearly agree with jay and say better quality fish. warmer clothes for the trip out and plenty of poppers incase the macks are in full flight :-) how often do you guys get out down there? mainly island fishing?
