Survival rate of released GT's

Does anyone have any numbers as to the survival rate of released GT's? I think we all assume it is good but I am looking for solid info.
Cheers

The GT I tag are all on the smaller side......but the recapture rate is about 10%.........which probably means the survival rate is pretty good.   Even when tossed back from heights of 20+ feet.

The overall recapture rate of tagged Ulua in the Hawaiian Islands is pretty high, suggesting that the survival rates are exceptional.

Hi Callan,
The NSW Gamefish Tagging program has about 2400 GT's in its database, with about 30 recaptures, but it would be dangerous to equate a 1.25% recapture rate with a high mortality rate.  Things you should be looking at include survival rate study for released fish.

No one has really studied GT's.
Some of the work going on in New Cal might shed some more light on the subject, since quite a few fish are tagged within the lagoon, but its early days yet.

Thank you guys for the quick reply. I guess it is still very early days in studying GT's. That means we are all at the forefront of understanding the habits of these magnificent fish and hopefully preserving them for future generations.

Here's a couple of links to some information on the Ulua Tagging Project in the State of Hawaii, USA.  Hope you find them interesting.
