Glanville:- We started off today in search of some Spanish Mackerel and it wasn't long before we had a junior specimen in the boat we continued trolling around and managed to catch a trout and couple shark mackerel I suggested to the guys to do some light tackle jigging and see if we can catch couple of trout...that soon ended in tears as our lucanus jig was engulfed by a Gt and was all over in seconds, we then went to casting smaller lures for some bludgers and it too wasn't long before the twin power was singing, we managed to persuade the gt to come into the boat for a couple of pics, we decided to try catch a Spanish mackerel and the "plague" Of Gts beat us yet again, we had both rods screaming away and lucky enough the hook fell out of one and the other well lets just say the Gt claimed another
Nick:- Left today in what was a normal day out here with a light 10 to 15 knots SE and blue skies which was actually quite nice for a change....which might seem strange to say but the breeze makes things a lot more comfortable. We started off by working a few ledges in search of some GT' and man did we find them, we got stuck in pretty early with double hook ups all over the show. Then boys were still fresh so they kept going at it hard and by lunch they had had enough and we had boated 11 GTs and a nice 12kg Spanish. We headed towards Odyssey to put some minnows out and started catching shark mackerel shot for shot. With spirits high we headed in for lunch and had a change of plan. We were on a mission to get some table fish so Brett our Chef came out with me and we threw anchor and did some bottom bouncing. With a nice relaxing afternoon we boated 9 good size strawberry trout, 6 Red Throats, Stripies and a nice Barramundi Cod which was released back to his mate. Great relaxing day fishing.
Alex- we had a fairly slow and frustrating morning seeing about 3 gts but no solid hook ups, the bait was still around but it was just milling around not scared and with not many fish on them, we ended up playing around the shallows catching stripeys and other various reef dwellers as well as a craken specimen of a squid that kept harassing a sebile stick shad. After the shallows we caught a few nice mackerel on a slow troll around the edge of the reef. In the afternoon the guys were after a change of pace so we were dropping mouse jigs and bottom bouncing with fairly constant action all afternoon with some good trout and red throat being landed, later on the action was still hot but the sharks moved in so we called it a day.
