100 pound kingfish on a jig
June 06, 2010, 11:56:15 AM
On a recent trip to the Three Kings one of my aussie mate Mick jennings landed what is possibly the biggest ever kingfish caught on a jig and the first that i have ever heard of cracking the 100 pound mark. Heres a few pictures of the beast and also a few more of some of the other great fish captured whilst on the same trip. This was not an offiicial weight as the fish was released, but the scales went to 105 pound so its pretty safe to say it was over 100.

Would love to see some more photos of this fish to see the true size of it, 47kg is a huge kingie on a jig and only about 5kg of the NZ record I think. Also that appears to be the Princes Group in the background, he would have to be one of the luckiest fisherman around as that is one of the hardest places to land those big boys at the Kings.
I understand how he felt after landing a kingie of that size, I got one that went 41-42kg on the scales and I wasnt in the best shape for photos after that, the most important thing is to let those big boys live another day, I will chuck a full report of my trip up shortly.

Cheers Coxy
