Tim: We arrived at the reef and prepped to go fishing for the day, with everyone keen and eager to get out there. The wind was blowing but not as much as we had expected it to blow so that was a bonus for sure, however it still blew in the 20-25 knot range. Unfortunately the Gts were slow today and although a few were seen in the morning non smashed the lures and seemed to be very unenthusiastic in general.
However at the mothership a few were landed as well as a few bust off so some fun was had. The afternoon session was awesome and the guys had heaps of fun on the light tackle catching Bludgers and Gold Spot Trevally with a few Shark Mackeral thrown in for good measure.
Overall a good day had by all.
Alex- Today was a bit testing in the dory with the weather not smiling upon us but sticking to the channels and bays we were quite comfortable. The first few hours in the morning were a bit slow, even scared schools of fusies didn't hold the fish. After a change of tactics and heading into the shallows to play in the blue holes proved fruitful with a good flurry of action before lunch boating one good gt of 32kg and missing 4 others in about 5 minutes. After lunch I thought the blue holes would pay off again but it was much slower and only saw 2 other gts but they were not interested. A few other reefies jumped on little stick shads to break the afternoon drought but nothing too substantial, hopefully tomorrow will be a bit more promising.
Nick:- Waiting in anticipation this morning to see what was in store for us. Even though the wind was howling it is always good to back out at Bugatti knowing that there are fish to be caught. We decided to go on tour this morning heading north from the anchorage. We fished sections of the reef that we could but the rest was just too exposed which handicapped us a little before lunch. After lunch we saw there were packs of GTs swimming under the mothership waiting...and second cast with a Sebile Stick Shad 182, color NK2, we were bending and managed to land a nice GT of around 22 kilos, and not long after another nice fish was landed the same way with another Sebile Stick Shad 182, color NMT. Instead of getting bashed around we decided to take a back seat for the arvo so we chucked a couple of minnows out and managed to land a few sharkies.
Chris:- Today was a bit testing. The weather unfortunately just wasn't on our side. However today was a great day on the fishing side of things. The GTs were not really on the bite. There were patches here and there of fussies but nothing to a big extent although the fussies we did find we pulled or saw fish. We boated 2 very nice GTs to about 25kg and saw another 2 which isn't too bad considering the weather. We decided after that to try our luck doing a spot of jigging. Lure of the day I would have to say was the flat shad 96. We had a ball pulling up job fish, red throat emperor, blue mauri cod, long toms, bludger and goldspot travalley and a few nice sized shark mackerel. After a good session on the soft plastics and jigs we went into the shallows to finish the day playing with the schools of goldspot and bludger travalley. I hope that the weather swings our way tomorrow....
