Doubles??

I havnt ever heard anyone using doubles for popping, always seems to be either trebles or singles. Why not split the difference and go a double.

Is there a reason for this?

Ben there has been mention of running 2 single hooks off the same split ring in another thread,  Check this one out.

Cheers Rob,
I have read that thread as well. Part of the reason I wanted to pose the question. They are still 2 singles, rather than a proper 'double' hook.

Double hooks like the ones on Yo-Zuri Bonitas etc. Thicker gauge wire, closer together points than a treble, but still more points than just the single.

The only downside I can see would be harder to penetrate the mouth of a fish, but then the same problem is evident in trebles anyway

Thoughts?

Cheers
Ben

Ben, I'm sure some people do use them. They're not popular though and while I have seen them on various lures, they are not generally available in a guage suitable for GTs. I have seen horrendous things happen to the ones on the big Rapala CDs.
