Hearty Rise Deep Blue 55 - PE3
Matt Latham:
I am relatively new to jigging and looking to buy a rod in PE3 class. Will likely be using it around Perth and the NW of WA as well as the Coromandel
coast in NZ.
My budget is about $500 and I would be pairing the rod up with a Saragosa 8k.
At this stage I am looking at the Hearty Rise Deep Blue 55 and the JM 200S. It would be great to hear opinions from anyone who has used these rods.
Will be using jigs up to 200gms targeting a range of species.
Would be very interested in anyones suggestions.
Cheers,
Matt

You are looking at 2 very different rods, action wise. The HR Deep Blue is a little faster action but lighter than the JM200. It is also longer at 5'5" The JM200 is shorter at only 5ft. It is also rated a little more in jig weight, 200gm as opposed to 150gm for the HR. The JM200 is also much more parabolic action with a stiff tip. It can handle jigs upto 300gm.
Hard one......if you are wanting to jigs from 90-100gm to 200gm and mostly under 100m of water, then I'd go the HR Deep Blue BUT.....
if its more 150-200 and occasionally 300gm, then I'd go the JM. It'd also has more balls down low.
There you go, an unbias opinion from a HR importer.

You can also look at
Smith AMJ 54L
or this one.......Smith WGJ S58ML with reduced price.

I can totally recommend the Deep Blue 55, sweet little rod, great action, you can jig all day. I have slayed some great fish up north with this.
