Nick:- We only had a couple of hours this morning to get Brendon and Eric a last shot at getting the big one. The weather was overcast and rain was on the horizon. We set off and at out second or third stop managed to raise a couple of fish but none of them committed enough to get stuck properly. We kept moving and found another fish in a blue hole which managed to have a go and unfortunately miss again. Finally Brendon managed to raise another fish and this time it stuck. Our time was up and we had to head back to Odyssey for the next group flying in. After lunch the new guys were geared up and ready to go, the wind had picked up drastically since the morning which made conditions pretty tough. We decided that blue holes were going to be the name of the game for the rest of the day where we would get a little more shelter. This paid off as Brandon managed to land another GT. Moving from hole to hole we had raised another fish and managed to boat another. Pretty happy with the overall outcome of today considering the conditions. Hope the wind blows its self out soon.
Damon:- A very interesting day!! The wind came through from the SW at 30kn about 20 minutes after we left the mothership at 10:30am. This wind was accompanied by rain squalls and a serious lack of visibility. We had one GT bite before lunch and missed it, but after lunch, the rain stopped a bit and we could see the reef again. We headed into the blue holes, as they always produce in the wind for some reason, and we were not disappointed. Even in the testing wind, Martin landed a 32kg GT, and then Luke landed one slightly smaller. We headed back to the mothership a little early to escape the wind, but stopped in another blue hole and had a monster GT of about 60kg attack Dominique's popper and miss, the giant then followed the popper and was about to eat it when a pack of red bass charged in on the action and put the big fish off its game. There was another pack of 4-5 big GTs in the same hole, but they failed to connect as well. Looking forward to more blue hole action tomorrow, and even in the wind this should be quite pleasant.
