GT-expedition where to go?
June 30, 2010, 05:22:36 PM
We´re 6 guys who want to do a serious expedition for GT, one main thing is that it has to be basic, no problems sleeping in tents or on the boat etc. the feeling of coming to a new spot is also important maybe there are no such places litterally but anyway.. where to go? thankfull for all thoughts on this matter

Hi mate, one place i would definetly say to fish would be New Caledonia and Fish With LPB "Le Poisson Banane" the best charter for the south pacific id say and alot of people would definetly suggest the same, alot of the boys on this forum have fished New Cal befor with these boys and definetly made second trips with them, not just because of the best GT popping on the Globe but with 2 Brothers that have Fished New Cal for many years now and no all the spots for GTs,there are some big Fisg there and if u wanna catch one or atleast try LPB can fisn u that fish...Camping trips and mother ships trips u can do with these boys also...

thanks, I?ll definitely check that out, new caledonia is high on the list of places to go.

one other thing I have been thinking about is renting a sailboat+dingy in australia and sail to chesterfield, anybody done that or know of a good company to rent a boat from to sail by your own?

/Pontus

It's a really really long way. I'd imagine a 5 day plus one way trip.

The Chesterfields are French controlled which means they are heavily patrolled by the French Navy - which means if you do not have a French certified skipper with prior permission...you will have no chance gaining access.

Perhaps a dumb question, but does anybody live there? has anybody fished there?

No one lives there. I think there may be some French research facilities - but very low key stuff.

As for fishing - I don't know of anyone who has....

As collaboration between LPB and Nomad would be ideal!
