thanks guys
John - yes, the curve in Malcolm's TBL is a beauty. While you expect rods like the WV and SP-UHL to stand up to any GT, these medium weight PE8 rods are works of art. I was amazed and what they could handle and in fact, they are probably a much better option for most anglers than the elephant guns. The other thing I like about this photo and the other photo of the angler almost being pulled overboard is that they really show what GT fishing is all about. There was an article this year in one of our local fishing magazines where they claimed a couple of photos were of anglers hooked up to big GTs. Well, they were 24kg rods and the bend in them indicated to me very small fish. To cap it off, the anglers were smiling!! GTs - yeah, right!!
Cam - with the tide we have at Marion, we just need to pray for good, calm weather. If we get that, it'll mean that we can get outside to the doggies and it really will be an amazing trip for all of us as that will mean we will have the full spectrum of fishing available to us. Theer is every chance of hooking onto huge doggies and GTs at Marion. Just need to keep your fingers crossed
