Nick:- The weather looked rather grey this morning with winds gusting a little over thirty with rain squalls and blowing a fresh 25 most of the day.
Not the most pleasant day out on the reef. We were on the light tackle assault today with Patrick Sebile, Jose, Kenji and Warren. The day was pretty slow in the morning with a few reef species being boated and on two occasions saw us getting absoloutly smoked on the light gear by decent size GTs. The guys were feeling a little damp by mid morning so we put some trolling rods out and headed east towards some new reef, we managed to land an endless supply of shark mackerel and in the midst also landed a nice GT on a Sebile Koolie Minnow 190LL which is their deep diving minnow which everytime it's set out seems to do the trick no matter what the species. After lunch we headed back over to the ledges for some light tackle casting and it definitely paid off we got smoked by another GT but finally Patrick Sebile managed to safely land a nice 22kilo fish 50 meters away from the Odessey on his 30lb outfit which was a great way to end off the day. Well it looks like the weather is going to be easing off a little in the next few days so im sure all the guys will be looking forward to getting rid of the rain jackets and get the sunscreen out in a couple of days time.
Glanville:- Waking up this morning to holocaust weather wasn't a pleasant start to the day but we proceeded to venture further south in pursuit of some slimy creatures, our attack plan started of fairly well and within the first half hour of fishing we had seen 3 Gts and managed to boat 1. With a few good spots on the cards we took on the rain and icy weather with high hopes, we continued to consistently see GTs but as it goes with the bad weather the fish came up to the lures with a mild case of lock jaw. Andy decided to go the subtle approach and it wasn't long before he had been bust off once and he started the ball rolling by catching a selection of fish, by lunch time we had managed to tame 3 good size GTs and a couple of smaller fish that were keeping Andy entertained, overall it was a hard day of fishing but you gotta take the good with the bad...be careful cause if this is anything to go by the fish are in serious trouble when the weather comes right, which it is forecasted to within the next couple of days.
