Guys,

I just called Daiwa Australia and the new Saltiga 4000, 4000H, 5000 & 5000H models are not being released until the end of the year (i.e. end of December).

As far as they know there is no word on price yet (though im sure that there is a lot of speculation).

If anyone comes across one before this time, please let me know as i am as eager and the next fisho to get my hands on one.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Guys,

Received this a few weeks back for Bruce at www.rayannes.com.au in Adelaide South Australia. Below is his exact wording.
I buy all my gear from this guy & they do the best prices in Australia when it comes to Saltigas & Stella’s & Smith rods.  I have spend a lot of money over the last few years with this guy & he wouldn’t lie.
I was going to buy a Dogfight 4 weeks back & asked him if he new about the new releases. I spoke with Daiwa Australia as well & they wouldn’t advised me there where no new models coming out. & also told me even if there was they couldn’t give that information out.

(4500/5000 will be out november/december this year, they will be about $20 dearer than the current model, the 3500/4000 will be out by feb/march. But the 6500 series (dogfight/expidition) wont be released until november 2011! and 20% more expensive.)

Cheers.

Scott.

I think Plat will have them by mid September.
Price making the rounds in the US is around 1300 USD.

Touche! Not sure anyone really cares about that big penn spinner, which is why they announced it at TWO successive icasts. It must be the tackle world's equivalent of duke nukem forever, coming soon since '97...

I am feeling new phrases coming on....

"He did a Daiwa"
"It was pure Daiwaism".

As already said..... it is only a freaking reel. Why all the mystery?

Man....Daiwa create all this hype to get everyone all worked up. If its anything like the new Certates....Im not impressed at all. I hope the new Saltiga are as good as the hype. So over it already....why tell people about it if you're not gonna release it!!  Think I'll go get myself another Stella....

Hello, has anyone fish with or tested the new 4500H Saltiga yet? I am interested in how it preforms in comparison to the Certate 3500HD.

It's spec and look much cooler than the 3500HD.  :P

Cheers.  ;D

Worth reading Alan Hawk's teardown review here
http://www.stripersonline.com/surftalk/showthread.php?t=768370

tbh I am glad I went Stella SW ... he has also done tear downs and reviews of the old Saltiga and Stella SW's - definately worth the read if you have 30 mins to kill

Read it and make your own mind up ... :)

I was fishing with the new 5000 this morning, last week too, it belongs to a mate in the trade, managed some small bonnies off the rocks. Reel has accounted for over 350 plus kings to 23kgs in NZ and one was left with the skipper and so far has performed faultlessly so we are told. Damage is around $1390, and he has had had them in stock for quite a while. They feel pretty solid and smooth but I hate the colour, lot of dosh when compared to a some of the good prices around for stellas atm.

2 completely different size reels.

The 3500 is more suited to PE3 max and the 4500 about PE5
