Tim - The wind was not kind to us today and was blowing a consistent 25kn so conditions were challenging. However we did still manage to get some decent fish to the boat. We tried for Gts in the morning and only landed one but we saw a few more that rolled on the lures or smashed but did not hook up. We then had a session on the light spin gear and got blown away by some rather large fish we that could not determine what they were. Bruce did a superb job on a rather large Red Bass on his light gear. The usual suspects were landed like the Shark Mackerel and Gold Spots. After lunch we did a bit of soft plastics fishing and we landed a few Red Throat, a couple of under size Red Emperor and trout, Stripies, Tuskies, Hussar and the like so the guys had a good time.
Alex- I had the gt guys today so we were hard core casting all day and in this weather meant probably getting bashed in superdory, but red dragon produced and we actually were fairly comfortable all day. The first hour or so was a little quiet but then the action started. The blue holes were firing this morning we saw a heap of fish in them including a couple of huge critters. We ended up with a bit of a disappointing effort at the end of the blue hole session with only 3 boated out of 9 solid hook ups. The action slowed for a while but then we hit another little honey hole on a good looking ledge boating another 4 in quick succession. The last one was a laugh as while I was getting the hooks out it coughed up a fairly large semi digested octopus. All round not too bad a day considering weather conditions with 7 gts boated and many more lost.
Chris:- well today we decided that we would split the day between the heavy and the light tackle. This morning we went on the hunt for GTs. I was working a few edges and bays where the current was pushing up on. Started off a little slow but boated a nice 30kg GT which was Greg's biggest GT, an amazing effort. We probably saw at least 8 GTs today. This afternoon we moved to the other side of the reef for a little bit of light tackle mania catching bludgers, goldspot, coral trout, red throat emperor, Red emperor and we found schools of nice sized mac tuna that kept us occupied for the rest of the afternoon.
