Gentlemen: I am not a GT fisherman but use some of the lighter-duty products designed for them and have learned much from those of you who are GT fisher-people. I have Ultra Jig man line on all my Stellas and just purchased some some Varivas conditioner. So I cannot vouch for it but I have a couple of questions to tag end onto this thread if you don't mind, Luke:
(1) How do you apply the stuff?
(2) Is it supposed to help with casting distance?
Thanks. I don't read Japanese as well as I used to.
Russ
I don't really know anyone that uses it so i've had to work out my own way of doing it.
Apply a liberal amount to a cloth and have an empty bucket handy. Leaving the reel on the rod, with line through the guides and bail arm open - continue to strip line off into the bucket, slowly and gently pulling the line through the cloth in your hands. I do this for around 100m of line.
I then carefully tie/attach the line to a small metal pole (anything that won't damage the line and is solid) that is then held by another person. Carefully move away (be careful not to tangle the line!) in order to stretch the line taught and then proceed to reel the line on under tension so that the line is tightly packed. I obviously do this in an open area on a grass surface (e.g. grass in front of my house).
It is supposed to help with casting. Casting certainly feels very smooth but i can't say conclusively that it gives me the ability to cast further. Surely the smoothness means less friction which means more distance
