Nick:- Today started off with a half decent trip out to Jewel Reef from Lizard Island. With big following seas and 25 knots of wind it was going to be a tricky day’s fishing. First stop proved to be quite good with patches of fusies all over the place. The morning session proved to be quite busy with a number of species being boated, bluefin trevally, red bass, spanish, GT’s, emperors and cod. A bit of a slower session over lunch with the change of tides was just the cool down for an explosive afternoon session with GT mayhem happening with packs of fish showing themselves every 50 meters we drifted the ledge. A great day for Bernie, Nick, Johan and Patrick who were really appreciative to experience a day like today - 18 GTs for the day along with 7 other species, not bad considering the wind was blowing 25 knots all day.
Glanville:- We started the day off with a massive weather change and waking up to 20-25knts of SE, we had planned to anchor at Jewell reef and made the crossing over from lizard Island fishing along the way. The fishing was pretty consistent throughout the day and we managed to catch fish all day we ended up with about 20GTs 2 decent size maori wrasse, a couple of trout and red bass and, we had one little crazy session when there were fish being hooked up all over the show, we even managed to catch 2 fish on one lure, a coral trout of around 6kg and a 18kg GT...ending the day off with a solid 30kg GT we decided to head in for some snacks and a cold beer.
Saltaire:- today we mixed it up a bit with the guys. We started off the day trolling and poppering along the shoals and edges, caught a nice 10 to 12kg dogtooth which was quickly rigged into a nice marlin bait. Had plenty of fun with the GTs probably landing 12 or so GTs and landed an absolute horse of about 45kg. We then spent our afternoon pursuing the black marlin. Saw one of about 250 pounds that we had eating our swimming queeny, but unfortunately was lost because the 20/0 circle had fouled into the queenie, we got a good look at him as he swam right past the boat all lit up
