Thinking of buying RippleFisher Infinity 80 or RippleFisher Trevally 80
Henry Sung:
Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum, thinking of buying a new popping rod, the current choice is RippleFisher Infinity 80 or RippleFisher 80.
Has anyone use these rod before?
Need some advice.
Thank you for your kind assistance.
Brandon Khoo:
Henry - I hink you need to let people know a bit more such as the line class, where you intend to fish, the reel you are looking to use etc etc.
Henry Sung:
Thank you Brandon,
RippleFisher Infinity 80 is PE 8, lure weight is 220 grams, heavy chugger.
Trevally 80 is PE 6, lure weight is 150 grams, chugger and swimbait.
will match it with Shimano Twin Power 12000, with PE 6 lines.
Target is probably GT or YFT 20kg up.
Anyone using these rods?
Thank you once more
Brandon Khoo:
Henry, I doubt the Infinity 80 will handle a 220g chugger. This is the weight class for the 79H and the Infinity is a significantly lighter rod than that. To me, its about a 160g max chugger rod. I have a Trevally 80 a the moment. This feels like about a 120-130g chugger rod.
Depending on the environment you're fishing, you may find PE6 to be a bit of a stretch for the size of the fish you want to target. What kind of environment are your proposing to fish?
Henry Sung:
I agree with you Brandon,
So i guess Infinity 80 is a better choice. I just fishes around Indonesia. There are some good spots for large GT and tunas.
Thank you for your advice.
