Talking to Duncan O'Connell [Fish Head] at the Brisbane boat show where he did a really top presentation on 'lure and popper fishing offshore Brisbane', he said the Daiwa Monster Mesh rods were a good looking 'entry type' rod at a good price, cheaper than the new T-Curve GT Special.

The monster mesh rods are a great entry level rod.  They are designed with cross wrapped/woven graphite which gives them extremly good hoop strength and lifting power.  Of course every now and again you do strike a one-off dud blank no matter which brand it is!  Note to self (bend new rods in private before showing to large group of customers).  The MM832 Popping Rod will handle mid weight poppers to 100-150g comfortably and at that length should be a really good stickbait rod.  They use SiC fuji guides and my only suggestion would be to replace the tip guide from a 10mm to 12mm guide if you are planning to fish very heavy leaders.  It is rated for 11kg max drag and is priced at $359.  Most of the Monster Mesh models are available now.

Cheers
