Hi all. Not sure if anyones interested. It doesn't really fit into any of the reports sections.
Thought some might be interested in this, a recent big Game tournament in Far North Queensland.

The overall stats of the Tournament were 147 strikes, 106 hook-ups for 59 tags. The size range of Black Marlin tagged was:

100 to 300 pounds 31; 300 to 500 pounds 16; 500 to 700 pounds 4; 700 to 900 pounds 3; 900 to 1000 pounds 4 and Andrey Grigoriev, fishing on Moana, tagged a magnificent 1100 pounder.

Some pretty good footage of the big girl getting tagged there. You'd be spewin if you lost her after that!!

The GBR is where its at for big black marlin..........no doubt!

There has been a few heavy tackle blue marlin off the Gold Coast and there is still good light tackle for sailfish.
Been a couple blacks caught already too, with wahoo, cobia and mahi mahi thrown in..........there you have a great bunch of stick bait and popping options already!

Bring on summer!!!!!!!!!

Be a heck of a blast switch baiting a grander marlin on popping gear........any takers!

I'd prefer to do it on a jig rod,it would be a little less back breaking then on a popper rod,also if there was some sort of deeper spool for line capacity,some Granders can strip of 37kg line its 10kg in under a minute..Amazing how much power they actually  have..
