jigging fads and becons

Finding some big kings hanging around becons in about 18meters of water bloody hard to catch though can hook them up allrite but just cant stop them from getting me wraped up around the becon and broken off.Using 300g jigs in 17m does feel pretty funny but it works.

have you tried the soft approach of trying to lead them away from the beacome after hookup? That is, don't belt into them after hook them, but exert some soft pressure and try to lead the fish away. Just remember this doesn't always work!!

I should point out that on the couple of occasions that I have tried it that I have failed miserably   :(

I recently tried to lead an AJ around after hooking it but it obviously realised something wasn't right and it went insane!

I got a couple, Luke, but the problem with this trip was that it was very rough and there was spray going everywhere. I wasn't game to get the camera out there due to the salt.

I have since invested in another camera - the new Olympus that is waterproof so I don't have to have the same concern.

Cam, sounds like you had a good one. all I got on a jig on Sunday was a Bonito and lost a big Pearlie. Just got back from the monthly meeting, Kelly scored her first Blue on heavy tackle and George lost his first at the boat.
It sounds like thier taggers are worse then ours.
 Ring you tomorrow.
I can't imagin you going softly softly on a Kingie.

i know it was hard to hold back and not pull on the thing but once we got away from the becon gave the little rat hell put up a nice little fight though. When you going wide to get some big marlin take pete he just might be the wildcard.

Hello All,

I know this isn't relevant to the content of discussion and I apologise in advance, but Brandon mentioned he had the new water proof Olympus, I was curious about his thoughts and how the pics turn out please.

Thanks......

well - I hope I get t put it to good use up there. It certainly didn't see much use in Vanuatu a fortnight ago!! I did put it to some pretty rough use though and I didn't spare it from the salt water. The camera got completely soaked on a few occasions and came though with flying colours. Quality of photos - well, I think they're pretty good. The camera doesn't have the features of my other one which permits me to manually set whatever I want. It really is more of a point and click but the quality of the photos seem to be pretty good.

i would post some but I have been having problems with that function on my computer.
