Peter: Today we set of to fish west around west Diamond Islet. The conditions on the water were exceptional with no more then 5 knots of wind.
The fishing today seemed to be steady all day catching doggies here and there throughout the whole day. The previous weeks we have fished in this similar area have been much the same but at some stage of the day there have been fireworks and chaos. Unfortunately today we had sparks all day without the fireworks. Plenty of fish were still brought onboard including a 28kg GT and doggies ranging from the 5-15kg mark all in all a nice day to be on the water.
Damon: A long run over to the western end of the reef today paid off, with some good dogtooth fishing. We landed and released 13 doggies for the day, with trolling being the most effective method. We lost a LOT of fish today, and we would have had 50 strikes for the day, which made for constant entertainment. The best doggie landed was about 25kg, and we lost 2 doggies around 35-40kg with pulled hooks and a busted off lure. The jigging was very slow compared to the trolling, we'd jig over a spot for bugger all, then troll straight over the same spot and hookup most times. On our way to Bugatti Reef now for some GT mayhem, but a great day was had by all and a nice way to finish Diamond Islets for the year.
Saltaire: - Well today the plan was to jig for most of the day and try and get our guys out and we did just that. We got into some nice doggies some to the 25kg mark and some just busted us off on the bottom. We landed around 6 or 7 doggies. The morning session was great. Lots and lots of bait were marking and fish too.
