Bugatti Reef Lagoon Explorer 6 Apr 2011
April 07, 2011, 05:42:39 PM
Nick:- Left today in anticipation of what the day would bring. Things didn't start the way I had hoped, we hadn't seen a fish and it was 12:30 so we broke for lunch and persevered - and it paid off with us boating a nice fish of 30 kilos in a blue hole. We then moved onto a ledge further down where there were scattered patches of bait and fish there wanting to play the game. We saw around 15 fish and managed to land 7 of them which was pretty good odds for the day. We also had some great fun on the light tackle catching goldspots, bludgers, trout and emporer during the slack periods. The wind is still puffing which is making things difficult but still great to be out on the reef.

Chris:- Well the weather backed off a bit today and the sun was out which just made the day the little bit better. We worked mostly blue holes today and edges having constant action but losing most of them which was a little disappointing. We managed to boat 4 but could have had a lot more under our belt. We had a great take in a blue hole and pulled a nice 25kg one out which in 4 metres of water made a ruckus. We had a pack of at least 10 or more smash our poppers in a narrow crack and within seconds had doubles on. The smallest one in the pack looked 30 and the biggest would have had to be over the 45kg mark.... absolute truck. It's good to see the fish are still biting and you still can have good fishing even when the weather's crap....
tomorrows another day....
