Unfortunately not, Amr.

Frankly, I think we'll see less chance to get those colours from Carpenter in the future. Nemo colour works great for GT but more people use same lure for other species like Kingfish these days and Carpenter tends to produce colours popular among all of them.....

If there is a 160 Nemo... shotgun!

Hi Tak,

Any idea where i would be able to source a Carpenter EP 810/42R - P1 - ICBM? Would it have to be a custom order through Carpenter?

Cheers

Hi Goerge,

Yes it is 'custom model only' rod and won't be on Carpenter's standard rod production.

Cheers,
Tak

Hello,
Obviously the BLC83/40R Power Max is not built for big popper use.  However, I have a gap between my big popping rod and smaller poppers.  WV 80XH.  What, if any, size poppers could I get away with on my BLC?  And since I am asking questions, what is the smallest you would recommend on the WV to load up correctly?

Thanks for your time.

Hi Robert,

I assume you are asking this question (please correct me if I'm wrong) to fill the gap to your WV80XH for the purpose of GT fishing. In that case, we don't really recommend BLC rods for that regardless what weight of poppers it handles for various reasons. WV80XH generally handles poppers  from 130 size and you would better look for lighter GT rod for below, something like SP80M or CV79/40 in my opinion.

Cheers,
Tak

Hi Jed,

I think they are coming sometime in 2014. They have plan for the model but not scheduled to particular time yet so I don't think they will be ready in Q1.

Cheers,
Tak

Rob, if I can just pick up from what Tak said.

We do not recommend the BLC for GTs. The BLC was designed primarily as a kingfish rod and while some people have successfully used it for GTs, we do not recommend this. The big difference between kingfish and GTs is that GTs have this tendency to turn side-on when you are fighting the fish. GT rods are built with the lifting power to handle this; the BLC is not.

If you are looking for a rod for smaller poppers, there are many in the range that will meet your needs. My personal favorite in PE8 is the Coral Viper CV79/40 as I find this has the best combination all round for working poppers and stickbaits as well as lifting power. A number of people have also found great favor with the PE8 Endless Passions like the 82/38 or 85/36. I personally prefer the profile and superior lifting power of the Coral Viper but it is a personal thing.

I should also add that in terms of minimum casting weight for the WV; this rod has a slower profile and is thus more forgiving on lighter weights. 130g will load it reasonably but 150g onwards would be ideal.

Brandon and Tak,
I am sorry.  I forgot to mention that it would be for tuna.  As sometimes we have to really downsize the lure, I was wondering if y'all thought it would handle a 70g popper.

Regardless, I believe the information y'all have provided is still more or less what I was looking for.

Thank you very much

I don't have any expertise on tuna. Will have to leave this to someone else

No, Brandon, y'all helped me.  Thank you very much.  It was not really so much of a species question.  It was more of if the BLC83/40R Power Max tip would be strong enough to work small poppers in the 70g range?

I thank y'all for taking the time to help me out.
