Damon:- We had a long run today, heading south about 40 miles, and travelling along with Odyssey all the way. We had a slow morning, and actually had only boated 2 GTs by lunch time, but ended the day with 14 Gts in the boat, plus a few long toms and sweetlip. The guys today just wanted to catch GTs and nothing else, but we drove through literally acres of foaming longtail tuna in the 6-10kg range, and Blue dory was catching these at will for hours.
The story of the day was Tony, who having come all the way from Scotland to catch GTs, and having caught plenty this week already, had not landed a fish by 4pm today. He'd been busted off in the reef twice by big fish today, but he managed to land 5 GTs in the last hour of the day, in a hot session where everyone had plenty of fun. Overall it was a patchy day, but highlighted with 2 incredible sessions of about 30 minutes each, and this certainly made it all worthwhile. Looking forward to what tomorrow brings.
Alex:- Not a bad day today, a big run for the morning but then carnage. We had a nice double hookup to open the account and then got another couple in quick succession. We then saw a heap and missed them then went light tackle. We caught trout, sweetlip, longtom mania. One nice highlight was spotting a nice 25kg GT cruising in about a metre of water then getting a guy to cast a magic swimmer 145 and the GT errupted in crystal clear blue water and some bommie dodging and luck was involved we got him into the deep water then it busted us off in its final run. We then walked into a blue hole on the
bottom of the low tide, it was a great experience and we saw a nice flowery cod and some other small reefies.
