knots joining PE to PE

What do you guys do if your line gets cut off on the reef and you need to top up the spool? Strip off and start again or is there a decent knot that you can use to just add more braid?

In the past i've tied two biminis and then used a uni-uni but I don't trust this much...

If you need to 'topshot' even a 300m spool, a good join is the two biminis and then 'catspaw' the two loops together ;D

Something i have done in the past is used the UNI-UNI knot. BUt what i do next is put the line on reverse so that the join is at the bottom of the spool so that the stress is less likley to be on the spool. it saves line and and has worked well for me.

this would be my suggested approach

If it swims; I want to catch it!

Good stuff I like the cats paw idea guess its best to keep the bimini loops long so the spool will go through it. Cheers guys!

Keep it short as possible mate - don't need it unecessarily long - just enough to fit whatever your other line is on through.
