Hooks on a Gamma 160???
Andy Rowe:
Peter,
Here is a translated link for capenters reccomendations;

I have tried gammas with belly treble and tail single but the action was not right. I have been told they are designed to be used with trebles and see that this appears to be true from my experiences. It may be something to do with the extra drag and weight balance the trebles give the lure. You may want to try baker rigs middle and back for something different..

Just found this old thread and I was wondering: Why is the Gamma always rigged with trebles? I never saw one picture with singles. Any reason for that?
I also think the ST66 looks a little small on the Gamma 200. As for the larger trebles: Isn't the tail hook the most important for killing the action og the lure? I was thinking of rigging with a Recorder 7/0 on the stomach and a ST66 for the tail.
Any thoughts?
Cheers,
Peter

I can get the Gamma to swim fine with a Baker rig on the belly and a single on the tail. Not much choice on Nomad charters as they don't permit trebles to be used.
I agree that the ST-66s look funny on a Gamma 200 but the lures swims best with the lighter trebles. The larger trebles tend to retard the action of the lure. I suppose it is a compromise - you can use larger trebles which give more security but don't expect it to swim as well.

Whoa! I knew the Nomad guys preferred singles to trebles from a fishing viewpoint but had no idea they were banned on board!

Can anyone from Nomad confirm this? I'd hate to turn up with 200 assorted trebles only to find I can't use them!
Brandon Khoo:
I think you can take my word for it - I have been on more Nomad charters than most and can confirm trebles are not permitted for GT lures.
