What is more suited to stick baits/ poppers for tuna? a higher or lower gear reel?

Personal preference would be high gear all the way for the YFT we target, high speed retrieves are often usefull, and as tuna may run back at you it helps to get the line in and tight again quickly.

I believe some anglers targetting Big NBFT have a preference for power gearing on their spin reels.

For "regular" sized tuna, I would totally agree with Andy as you often get the best results with zipping the lure fast.

For the crazy large Atlantic Bluefins I can see why folks might want to use a lower gear ratio reel (the pain factor!).

I guess it makes sense to catch more with a faster retrieve, worry about the pain later.
