Clint: We woke to very blustery conditions today but that did not dampen the mood. We fished some nice ledges to start the morning but could not raise a fish. It was not until we came to one of those perfect bombies you just know is going to have a fish on it when we got our first hook up. The take was awesome it gently took the stickbait off the surface and when Kai set the hooks the fish did not know what hit it. We landed this fish that went just over 25kg but fought like a monster. Conditions were getting tough now fishing out of the dory with the wind and tide working against each other. The second fish we got was on a small isolated reef the same again the fish took it off the surface very gently. We got him too another nice GT. After that things went patchy for a while we were seeing fish but could not set the hooks. After plenty of missed fish we finally got another one. Considering the tough conditions it was a good day. Please Huey ease up on the wind.
John Dory:- A sturdy Soueaster hit us this morning as we walked out of the wheelhouse, but Sam, Sam and Maverick where still keen to get amongst the action, we had to do a bit of running today so we bombed a few blue holes on the way across the deep blue highway. First bit of action we saw was on the textbook perfect shoal with the current folding over the ledge we had one follow from a nice fish that didn't hook up, then Sam opened the account with a feisty 10kg fish. Things were a little patchy after that but a cute little trout caught in the shallows was a highlight for the afternoon before the winds had battered us into submission for an early retreat, fingers crossed for less wind tomorrow.
Damon:- We had a great day today, releasing 10 GTs for the day in some serious windy conditions. The best GT for the day was 28kgs, which got aerial on a skipping popper, and was one of the best takes I've seen in a long time. A very enjoyable day despite the wind!!
Glanville:-We woke up to windy conditions this morning so an interesting start, we were lucky enough to start off first up with a double hook up off the boat...we continued on and managed to get the odd fish here and there, the weather conditions today were very challenging and we were drifting extremely fast but the guys were on the ball today and had lures in the water at the right times and the hard work paid off we called it a day a little early and were back at the boat with 12 Gts in all it was very interesting and was great to see how the fish are still biting in the rough weather which is very unusual.
